Accountant Scott Foster Plays for Blackhawks

Hometown Goalie Steps in After Injury

Chicago, IL – March 13, 2023

In a remarkable turn of events, 36-year-old accountant Scott Foster played in an NHL game for the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Foster, who played goalie for Western Michigan University over a decade ago, was called upon as the emergency goaltender after starter Kevin Delia was injured.

Foster, from Oak Park, Illinois, entered the game with just over 10 minutes remaining in the third period. He stopped all seven shots he faced, including a breakaway by Connor McDavid, to help the Blackhawks preserve a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Foster's performance was reminiscent of the legendary David Ayres, who played for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2020 at the age of 42. Foster became the oldest player to make his NHL debut since 2015 and the first accountant to play in an NHL game.
