USF football loses to Bemidji State

Bulls fall to 1-3 on the season

The University of Sioux Falls football team dropped to 1-3 on the season with a 27-14 loss to Bemidji State University on Saturday afternoon at Bob Young Field.

The Bulls were led by quarterback Caden Walters, who threw for 201 yards and a touchdown. Running back Thuro Reisdorfer added 75 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Bemidji State was led by quarterback Brandon Alt, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Bryce Johnson caught six passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bulls took an early lead in the game, driving 75 yards in 10 plays on their opening possession. Reisdorfer capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run.

Bemidji State answered back with a 14-play, 75-yard drive of their own. Alt found Johnson for a 20-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7.

The Beavers took the lead for good with a 10-play, 56-yard drive in the second quarter. Alt connected with Johnson again for a 15-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7.

The Bulls cut the lead to 14-10 with a 26-yard field goal by Cole Snyder in the third quarter. However, Bemidji State extended its lead to 21-10 with a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Bryce Johnson.

The Bulls got the ball back with a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. However, Walters was intercepted by Bemidji State's Jonas King with 2:30 remaining.

Bemidji State added a late touchdown pass from Alt to Johnson to seal the victory.

Next up

The Bulls will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Wayne State College. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
